Financial Aid & Scholarship Tips for Indiana Students

College tuition. Two simple words that can strike terror in the hearts of parents and their college-bound offspring.

Luckily, financial aid programs bridge the gap between a family’s available funds and the total cost of tuition and fees, books, room and board and all of the other expenses of a college education.

College Scholarship for Indiana Middle School Students

The 21st Century Scholars program is open to all Indiana seventh- and eighth-graders. Whether applying or reapplying, applications be submitted in full by June 30 of the year the student enters high school.

The program has some financial basis requirements and students whose family income (to support four people) is less than $34,873 may apply.

$2,000 Scholarship for Washington, D.C. Area Students

Washington, D.C. area high school seniors and undergraduate students: Apply now for The Sallie Mae Fund “Home Runs for College” Scholarships!

The Sallie Mae Fund “Home Runs for College” Scholarships is a partnership between The Sallie Mae Fund and the Washington Nationals major league baseball team. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funds to students with financial need from the Washington, D.C. area. All scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2,000.

University of Hawaii Financial Aid

The University of Hawaii is considering a $1.5 million financial aid plan for students. The program, if approved, could provide financial aid to B-average students.

BPW Colorado Scholarships for Women

BPW Colorado Foundation offers college scholarships for women persuing higher education. Since its inception in 1976, the Foundation has provided over 350 women with scholarships totaling over $265,000.

Scholarships are offered twice a year, with application deadlines of March 31 and September 30. Women 25 years of age and older who are enrolled in an accredited Colorado college or university are eligible to apply.

Norman, Oklahoma Scholarship Workshop

A free scholarship workshop is being offered on October 17th at the Norman Public Library. High school juniors, seniors and parents are encouraged to attend. The workshop is being provided by Rose State College in Midwest City.

Attendees will be guided through the college application processing, online research, and financial aid basics. Students are asked to bring their ACT scores if they have them, their Social Security number, and a current high school transcript.

Glaser Foundation Spring Scholarships for Texas Students

The Glaser Family Charitable Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for the Spring 2006 semester until the deadline date of October 14, 2005.

Applicants may be high school seniors or currently enrolled college students with a 2.0 GPA and above. At least 80% of the scholarships will be awarded to students from Fannin County, Texas.

New Jersey Conservation Science Scholarship

The New Jersey Association of Conservation Districts will award a $1,000 Memorial Scholarship to any state resident who: is a full-time college student, has completed four full semesters of study, and is enrolled in a major related to conservation of natural resources such as agriculture, agronomy, soil science, plant science, forestry, geography, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries management or other related areas. Applications are due Oct. 6 and are available by contacting Freehold Soil Conservation District at (732) 683-8500.

St. Petersburg Florida Area Scholarships

The St. Petersburg Times is now accepting applications for the Barnes Scholarship which will award four students up to $15,000 annually for four years at any nationally accredited collegee or university.

Applicants must be high school seniors in Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough, Florida counties. The deadline for entry is Oct. 14.

Racine, Wisconsin Scholarships for Women

The Miss Racine Scholarship Pageant is open to women ages 17-24 who live, work or attend school full-time in Racine County or attend the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The winner will receive a $2,500 college scholarship to the college of her choice and participate in the Miss Wisconsin pageant in June.
