Virginia - Black Students Scholarship

A men’s club has been providing a scholarship for black high school seniors for 14 years. Graduating seniors in Virginia should apply for the scholarship.

Four years ago, the New River Valley Progressive Men’s Club upped that number to two $1,000 scholarships each year and will do so again this fall. Applications should be made by the end of June.

Texas Agriculture Scholarships

Students who are persuing studies in farming and other areas agriculture should be aware of the scholarships which are available. Scholarships are available from the Texas Farm Bureau, Future Homemakers, Future Farmers of America and 4-H Clubs.

Oklahoma City Community College Scholarships

Oklahoma City Community College has three scholarship opportunities with application deadlines coming up soon.

Scholarships for New York State - Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming Counties

There are several scholarships available for high school seniors living in the Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming county region who plan on going to Genesee Community College.

Orgegon Scholarships - Deadline March 1

Oregon Student Assistance Commission scholarships are now available and deadlines are fast approaching. Scholarships are for Oregon residents attending state colleges.

The commission administers a number of privately funded scholarships such as the Ford Family Foundation, the Oregon Community Foundation, U.S. Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, and Bank of America. One application form will submit the student for consideration to more than 300 scholarships.

Salesforce Foundation Announces New College Scholarship Program

The new college scholarship program is for graduates of BizAcademy, a week-long program teaching entrepreneurship and providing internships to over 20 underserved San Francisco high school students.

Georgia Scholarship $1,000

High school seniors and college students attending school in Georgia have the opportunity to apply for a $1000 scholarship. The Walter Harrison Scholarship program awards $1,000 to students attending any vocational school or two- or four-year accredited college or university in Georgia.

The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. The program was started by the Energy Cooperatives in Georgia’s to honor Walter Harrison, a pioneer in providing electricity in rural Georgia.

Los Angeles Scholarship

The second annual Los Angeles college scholarship program presented by California Credit Union has been announced. This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors in Los Angeles County schools and also for Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) students who will be returning or graduating.

Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and attend an accredited college or university in 2006 in order to apply for the Los Angeles scholarship program from the California Credit Union. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2006.

A total of $35,000 will be awarded by the credit union, $1,000 scholarships each to 35 Los Angeles college students.

Massachusetts Financial Aid Seminars

Financial aid seminars will be offered by Williams College, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Berkshire Community College. High school students and parents are encouraged to attend to learn more about financing a college education.

The second seminar will be held today at Lee High School / Lenox Memorial High School at Lenox Memorial High School. Additional semiars will be offered during the first two weeks of December with the final opportunity to attend on Saturday, January 7 2006.

Newport Oregon Financial Planning Workshops

Newport High School will hold a “Making College Financial Planning Count Program” on Dec. 7, and a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Workshop on Dec. 12. Both programs will begin at 7 p.m. in the Newport High Boone Center and last for one hour. All parents of students in grades 9 through 12 are welcome.
