Wyoming College Prep Program

The Wyoming state education department recently announced a $24 million program to help prepare lower-income students for college entrance.

The GEAR UP program - short for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs - will give up to 2,000 eligible students advice on classes they should take, careers they might consider and how to apply for college.

$42 million program aids would-be collegians

The program will work in conjunction with another initiative, the Hathaway Scholarship, which is expected to provide financial aid for eligible college students through a $400 million endowment.
